Sure gunning someone down 200+ damage in a single clip is fun or pleasing, but is it tap-strafe fun? No. Heck, simply sliding past someone while shooting at them is already something most player I come across with, can't keep up. It's provides window of opportunity in a seemingly lost situation and fun at that too! Out-maneuvering, doing something your opponent do not expect. Stuck in a room with only a jumppad towards your enemy? Jumppad-strafe 180 degree away. Similarly it's fun doing bunny hopping or wall bounces when they give you no real advantage. Removing it takes the fun away, so no doubt people complain. It's an exploit that would only be appropriate to leave in if it was accessible to everyone. I dunno what you read but it's being removed. See the dev note below for more context."Īnd the dev note goes on to say how they've made changes to prevent sharp 90s to remove tap strafing This previously enabled an exaggerated movement tech known as "Tap Strafing. "(PC only) You’ll no longer be able to bind forward movement to the Mouse wheel on PC. Apex Legends is currently in its 10th season (subtitled Emergence), and developers already nerfed the new character Emergence introduced with a mid-August patch.Originally posted by TTV OrxsN:i agree, tap strafing has way to high of a use at even low ranks (granted nothing crazy) but that little dodge in a 1v1 that you were winning then suddenly lose your tracking and centering because wraith decides to jump right then TS left followed by 3 evo shots to ruin your day, is not fun, regardless of the skill level, also it was found 2 seasons ago, not exactly a ground base mechanic from the early days You do realize its not going away right? Just read the patch notes Respawn didn’t give any indication what change, if any, will be coming when tap-strafing is addressed, when that will be, or when the next patch will even launch. PC players, by default, are matched with other PC players, and although some choose to use a gamepad, players said Respawn should implement input-based matchmaking and leave tap-strafing alone. ![]() Still others disputed that the mixed population of PC and console players was a meaningful reason for the change. A big example of that is the Launch Pad ultimate that Octane can deploy, as the double-jump it enables makes tap-strafing even more effective.Īpex Legends players at first jeered the change, saying that tap-strafing as an advantage to keyboard-and-mouse players countered the aim assist advantage exclusive to gamepad users. The move also “lacks readability/counterplay, and is exacerbated by movement abilities,” the studio said. Two weeks ago, Respawn called tap-strafing “inaccessible” to most of the audience in a game that fully supports cross-platform play. The inputs necessary to tap-strafe can also be bound to different buttons (or the scroll wheel) on a gaming mouse, making the turns easier to pull off. The move is a hard turn, executed in midair, which is commonly used by keyboard-and-mouse players on Apex Legends’ PC version. 31, Respawn said tap-strafing’s days were numbered. “After further testing, we’ve concluded we need to take more time to get this right to make sure related movement mechanics aren’t caught in the crossfire,” Respawn Entertainment wrote on Twitter. The studio on Monday said it had “discovered some unexpected side effects” and is “delaying our planned change to a later patch.” ![]() Apex Legends developers are putting brakes on their plans to eliminate “tap-strafing,” a movement meta-tactic skilled players use to be even more mobile.
